Steven D. Bennett, Th.M., Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist

Steve Bennett is a psychoanalyst and clinical psychologist who works to help his patients overcome repetitive, self-destructive relationship patterns, self-defeating behaviors, and consequences of traumatic childhood experiences. He received his PhD in clinical psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary and then was trained as a psychoanalyst at the Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas, where he currently serves as the Director. In addition to training in psychology and psychoanalysis he has a ThM in theology and graduate training in the history of religion. He is the founder and director of the Center for Psychological and Family Services. He is a full member of the N.C. Psychoanalytic Society, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and the American Psychological Association.

As a psychoanalyst, he uses the relationship with his patients to help them increase their capacities for reflection, self-awareness, and agency. He specializes in the treatment of personality disorders and complex relational difficulties. His interests also involve stagnation in life transitions, crises of faith and identity, sexuality and intimacy, depression, and organizational dynamics.
